A Divine Sojourn to Nathdwara(Raj): Journey to Shrinath Ji

Our journey to Nathdwara unfolded as the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm glow over the Aravalli Hills. Arriving in the evening, our expectations for immediate darshan (worship) at the renowned Shrinath Ji Temple were uncertain. To our delight, fate smiled upon us as we were granted ‘Shayan Darshan’ at 7:15 PM, a rare evening glimpse of the deity that lasted for a blessed hour.

The divine aura of Shrinath Ji enveloped us as we stepped into the temple, a marvel of architecture adorned with intricate carvings. Shrinath Ji, in his bal-swaroop (7 year child form), radiated a transcendental charm that left an indelible mark on our hearts.

Here are some intersting facts About Shrinath Ji:

  1. Origin: The idol of Shrinath Ji (Lord Krishna)is believed to have originated from Govardhan Hill near Mathura.
  2. Balswaroop Worship: Shrinath Ji is venerated in his balswaroop, a seven year old child, symbolizing the innocence and purity of Lord Krishna’s childhood.
  3. Shrinathji is the central presiding deity of the Vaishnava sect known as the Pushti Marg.
  4. Posture: The idol stands in the ‘Tri-bhangi’ posture, bent in three places, a unique stance that imparts a sense of grace and divine playfulness.
  5. Aurangzeb’s Gift: The astonishing diamond affixed to the chin of the idol was a gift from the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb when he witnessed the Karishma of Shrinath ji in his quest…
